I have worked with a wide range of clients and organizations throughout my career. Most have paid little, if any, attention to sales tax or had someone on staff that was formally trained in this area. Frankly they find dealing with sales taxes, and the tax authorities frustrating and confusing. I strive to fill that gap – allowing my clients to focus on what matters most to them.
I have over 17 years experiencing advising clients with respect to the application of the Federal Goods and Services Tax/ Harmonized Sales Tax, Provincial Sales Tax, Tobacco Taxes, Fuel Taxes, Alcohol Taxes as well as Environmental Stewardship Levies.
In addition to proactively advising clients, I also assist them with audit defense.
I was formerly a partner in one of Canada’s largest professional services firms, and served as the head of tax for one of Canada’s largest wholesalers /retailers of grocery products.
I am a practising member of the Nova Scotia Barrister’s Society and frequent presenter, lecturer and instructor for a wide range of organizations.
In addition to completing a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Laws both at the University of New Brunswick, I have also completed the CFO Leadership Beyond Finance program through Queen’s University/FEI Canada.
Finally, I am proud to serve on the board of Brigadoon Village, Canada’s largest pediatric camp focused on providing camps to children designed to accommodate their health conditions or other life challenges.
